Dragonflies & Minnows
Spring & Summer Programming
Often families can struggle to find a place where they can network and play, in a safe environment. Dragonfly Pond remedies that with a spring and summer children’s program known as Dragonflies & Minnows. During this program, children and caregivers or parents, spend a few hours in the gym exploring the developmentally appropriate equipment, art activities and social circle times. Some children, who have never been in the pool before, experience for the first time, the freedom of the water. Dragonflies & Minnows owes its success to the United Way, Safeway, volunteers, instructors, parents, and the partnerships with the City of Penticton.
Respitality
Respitality season runs from October to March. Members will be notified in August when Respitality opens. Respitality is a combination of respite and hospitality that provides parents of children with complex care needs and/or disabilities a much needed break. Dragonfly Pond coordinates overnight accommodations, along with gift certificates for a meal and/or entertainment, providing parents with an opportunity to relax and rejuvenate so they can return home refreshed and less stressed. Childcare is the responsibility of the parent. This program is funded by The Community Foundation South Okanagan, The Penticton Lakeside Resort and Conference Center, The Sandman Penticton, The Ramada Penticton, The Oliver Coast Hotel, The Pasta Factory, The Okanagan Fest of Ale Society, Elephant Island Winery, Pappa’s Bistro and Fire House, Rock N Roll Fun Centre, Landmark Cinema 7, The Oliver Theatre, South Okanagan Events Centre, Many Hats Theatre, The Dream Café and The Penticton Speedway.
